Become a ‘Host’
Do you like the idea of bringing people together in your area?
Could you help us in welcoming The Coat of Hopes on a stop along its on going journey?
So far, many hundreds of people have worn, walked with and contributed to the story of the Coat. And from July to August 2023, the Coat will walk again from where the gates to the Blue Zone at the COP26 Conference stood. It will travel on to Edinburgh, where it will take its place in an exhibition at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival between the 4th and 28th August.
The Coat’s next leg will be a bit different. It will be walking on indefinitely passing through many towns, villages and cities as it heads south once more down the east side of the UK. We anticipate that it will be a small group that is travelling with the Coat between 3 and10 people.
But we do hope that many people from the communities through which we pass will want to meet, walk with and wear the Coat, to become part of its story.
We are reaching out to you to ask if you might be able to host the Pilgrims who will be walking with the Coat.
The Pilgrims’ Needs are light:
Shelter:
A roof over our heads. We travel with sleeping bags and mats so this could be a church hall floor or a space in someone’s home.
Sustenance:
Simple food and water refills. We choose to eat a vegan diet. We are of course able to cook for ourselves, but would choose to share food with the community with whom we are staying if that is possible and not an imposition.
Basic Needs:
Somewhere to wash, use the bathroom and recharge devices.
If you think you can help, please let us know.
We would be happy to arrange a phone call to discuss further details and any questions you have. We will be here to support you!
Please get in touch by email letting us know where you live and if you can help us in finding a venue and /or to host the Coat. We have a template poster which can be adapted for advertising the Coat’s arrival which we can send to you.
